O TEAM

Mission: The Otis Teens, Educators, Artists and Mentors Initiative prepares low-income Los Angeles youth for a productive life path through skill-based art and design education, and mentoring to facilitate their personal development and entry into higher education and the workplace. O TEAM is an academy-style, sequential year-round program for high school students that takes place over a three-year period (grades 10-12) and is free to all participants. The program is made up of three primary components:

  1. Sequential instruction in fine art and digital media that advances students’ skill, challenges abilities, and refines talent
  2. Supplemental instruction with clinics, one-on-one advisement, and weekend and summer workshops
  3. Professional mentoring that provides multiple opportunities to experience works of art, support artistic development, and gain a deeper understanding of the creative profession

2006-07 Program:

  • Partners include High-Tech High, Van Nuys, CA; Venice High School, Venice, CA; Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC).
